Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1780-1796.

Mahogany tall-case clock. The hood has a molded arch pediment with a shaped top, three brass ball-and-spire finials on plinths, sidelights with astragal tops, free-standing fluted columns with gilt capitals at the front corners, turned quarter columns at the back corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove molding at the top, fluted quarter columns at the front corners, and a case door with a shaped top and a large glazed peephole encasing an orrery. Base with cove and ovolo molding at the top. Base section with inlaid oval, shaped skit and supported on French bracket feet. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, additional rings beyond the hour numerals, applied cast ornament in the spandrels, applied subsidiary dials in the upper spandrels, and an elaborate dial in the lunette. Sweep seconds hand. Eight day movement.
